Very Busy weekend!

We have had such a busy weekend. One of the best parts was Sunday! While we were sitting out at our yard sale, our next door neighbors came out to sit with us. We actually ended up spending the whole day outdoors with them. We even cooked dinner on the grill and sat around the yard sale table to eat.

We helped the kids make a tent out of the tarp and they played all day in our yard using their imaginations. They ran and played for hours. By late afternoon we had about 20 neighborhood children running through our yard. We loved it! An unplanned time turned into a wonderful day with great friends.

It seems we are all so busy, we don't take the time to slow down and enjoy the company of our friends more. It was so nice to just do "nothing" Sunday but relax, talk, laugh, and eat! We had the best time watching the kids enjoy themselves and use their imaginations.

If you look closely at the pictures above you will see how dirty the kids got! Especially Kathleen's face! Our neighbor's youngest son was wearing his football helmet most of the day. We were laughing as we watched him trying to eat his icy pop through the holes, LOL (See picture) Just good times, a day we will always remember. We are so very blessed to have them as our neighbors.

Today we took a drive and enjoyed the weather. When we got back the kids and Jerry went back outside for a water gun battle and more running and playing. I stayed in to focus on my schoolwork. Which I will be doing again this evening.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend with their family and friends!

Many Blessings,

Hi Jill...Yeah for good times!!!! I'm glad it turned into a great day of spending time with neighbors and having cute crazy kids running everywhere. How did the yard sale itself go? Did you get lots of visitors and were able to sell everything? I hope so!!!! I had a great weekend of doing "nothing" :) :) :) This week I'm scheduled for 18.5 hours so I don't have to work a whole lot this week, unless I can find a 4 hour or more shift that I can pick up. Have a good week. Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

No better way to spend the day. Family & good friends makeing memories. So many people do not enjoy having so many children around these days. So great you opened your yard and heart. If others would do this they would find there is joy in watching children play & use there imagination.

Dear Jill, Thanks so much for visiting! Now you are bringing back memories to me! How I miss those days when my five were all younger and the neighbors hung out with us. They always had so much fun..especially when the weather was nice. :o) Great photos!

Thanks for visiting so much. The kids had to take August to Texas Children's last night. He's still having breathing troubles. Please keep him in your prayers.

Sounds like a fabulous day!!! I agree...everyone is so busy running the rat race that they seldom slow down enough to connect with friends...let alone just relax with them.

By the way, thank you for your kind words about my son's guitar. He's at that place of trying to determine if that is what he wants to do for a profession. While he really likes it, he also has a passion for police work, so he's thinking guitars will be a hobby/side business for him. However, most police departments require you to be 21, and he's only 18, so he doesn't have to make the final decision for a few years yet and can just focus on guitars and ukuleles for a while longer.

Blessings to you,

What a great weekend.
Sometimes those unplanned happenings are the best!

Those relaxing days with neighbors are the best! We did the same thing on Sunday. Kicked back at the beach all day with neighbors and ended the evening with a bonfire and music. One friend played guitar, one on congo drum and my BSD played "the egg." hehe...he was so proud of himself! :)

How fun! I love close neighborhoods. When I was a kids we had a great neighborhood like that, all the parents were friends and the kids all played together, it was so great! And those unplanned events are usually the best. Glad you had such a great weekend, hope your week is just as wonderful!!

This reminds me of the porch back in the old days when I remember sitting there with different family members. People would pull in the driveway, come sit and visit with us. Some times I would get fortunate to have someone run around in the yard with and play. You never knew who was going to be driving by, seeing us out, and stopping in for a visit or home made ice cream. I miss those simple days!
