Basement flooding :-( and more....

Hmmmm seems like every step forward is a step backwards sometimes. As if my to do list wasn't long enough already....Thursday morning we woke up to a flooded basement, our sump pump died during the night and the result was flooding.....ugh.

French drains are overflowing all over.

Here if you look closely you can see it through the carpets too. Our entire finished area of the basement need to be torn out, the smell has already started.....2 weeks before we leave for Disney! I am however grateful it happened while we were still at home! Have to find the positives! :-)
The girls were willing to help too...

Totes to start packing up all the toys etc on the other side...

Proud of my girls...always willing to help...

I even made Kathleen a quick, special sandwich for her hard work! LOL :-)

Kathleen was so cute when she found out about the water she wanted to take her kitty and blanket to school so the water wouldn't reach them in her room. I had to explain to her the water wouldn't reach that high! LOL If so we were in trouble! ;-)

She also wanted to wear two coats while decorating because it was so cold out! :-)

Owen has taken over Sally's spot watching us at the front door....

He misses her too  ;-(

So we got our outdoor lights up and we are no longer the darkest house on the street!

The girls had fun decorating the tree!

Elvis enjoyed it too!

Then the sillies set in.... ready for some good hearty laughing?

Get ready to smile, laugh and be merry!

I LOVE these three....always warming my heart and always making me smile!!

And one more.....

How has your week been? Crazy as mine? LOL!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Blessings,
Jill

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about the basement flooding. That's a bummer. You are right though, it's a praise that you were home when it happened. Hopefully you can get rid of the smell!!!!

I just love all your photos, especially the silly ones :) :) God has really blessed you with a beautiful family :) :) Oh, the photos in your header are really nice, too :)

Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather ;)

Hi Jill, I tried to leave a comment and my computer locked up so I am back to try again.
So sorry to read about the flooding. It seems when we are the busiest these unwelcome things happen. But like you said, a blessing to happen before your trip. It would not be fun to come home to that.
Love the silly pics of your 3 having fun. So cute and these are the memories of the season that make it special.

Love little Owen waiting by the door. He is precious!

Have a wonderful and blessed week.
XOXO Celestina Marie

If it had to happen, now was the time. It happens here too and I sure do understand the mess but you'll get it cleaned up and insurance will help if it's bad. I'm glad you got your house inside and out decorated. YEAH!!!
Have a great week and thank you so much for the support. I'm trying.
Take care and God Bless!!

I am sure he is thinking of her when he sits there ~and you guys are too cute love the wreath pictures!! Merry Christmas ~Love Heather

I'm glad that you are able to see the positive side in all of that disaster. I would be a total mess. I hate when things are ruined. Even if those things are 10,000 toys which I hate more.
Don't tell on me for looking at a blog posted over the weekend. My promise was to not blog on Saturdays or Sundays. But I just had to see this basement.
I love little Owen looking through the door. As if he's waiting for Sally to return.

On a different note, your family is just about as goofy as mine! I love their wreath hats.

You always manage to find a way to put it into perspective. A flooded basement isn't a problem when you have a wonderful family. I just love you and your spirit.

That flooding is a complete bummer. However, it's great that it did not dampen your spirits during the holidays. While the water damage can be irksome, at least there is a solution to a problem like that, right?

I'm sorry to read about your flooding. Last year, when Irene hit, our pumps did the same, and we ended up with 4 feet of water in our basement. We had to call a fire and water damage restoration company to pump out the water and clean up the mold. It was a hassle, and we had to redo our entire basement. But like you, we hung on to the comfort of our family. I love the sandwich you made! When my grandkids come to visit, I'm going to try and replicate it. Thanks for sharing.

You have a beautiful family Jill! It was so nice to see everyone having a wonderful time at Christmas. The last thing you would want during this season of cheers would be flooding in the basement or in any part of the house for that matter. How did the surface drying go? I really do hope the floor and the carpet didn’t grow too much mold and mildew and caused you any more trouble.
