Christmas recap and making truffles

Thank you all for your kind words on the loss of our cat Princess. We are trying to adjust to her not being here. :-(

Been so busy traveling again and trying to catch up on laundry, unpacking, cleaning, schoolwork, etc.! The plan this weekend is hopefully to take down Christmas decorations and look for new carpeting downstairs since we received the insurance check. Just needing a few more hours in my days!

Christmas Eve we had our neighbors over for a dinner along with their parents that were visiting from England. The girls had fun in the preparations and we were also surprised by all the lovely gift baskets we received from our neighbors!

One of the girl's favorite desserts is making Oreo truffles! Super easy, super yummy!

Getting ready to smash the cookies!

We just use a meat tenderizer and they like smashing them that way! (You could use a food processor too, although there's very little fun in that!) :-)

Love Kathleen's expression on here...somehow she just had to get her hands covered in chocolate!
That's Princess checking things out, we had no warning that we would lose her so shortly after this. :-(

Truffle anyone? ;-)

Love these pictures, they were having so much fun!

Mission accomplished! Don't worry she only licked her fingers after they were all set!

We also made some chocolate almond cherry cookies

But somehow forgot the cherries!!! LOL

They were still good though :-)

Then we took the easy way out and made the preprepared sugar cookies and chocolate chip cookies, still was enjoyable!

Don't ask me what is up with Kathleen's eyes, she was so excited!

Elvis stayed comfy and spoiled on the couch and pillow in our living room...

When he's not here, he's usually under or in our tree!

The girls even set up an area for their American Girl dolls for Christmas.

After dinner was over and our guests were gone we opened gifts from each other. It's a tradition each year.

This year we gave Jerry the gag gift of a monster truck (even though we know he is so going to play with it!)
Kathleen was so excited about him getting it.

Her expressions crack me up!

The next morning we woke up early and went down to see what Santa had left...

Then we pushed all the presents back under the tree and Kathleen got dressed quickly and said "now let's get going to Disney World!"

And so begins our adventure/vacation to Walt Disney World!

More to come tomorrow! :-)

blessings,
Jill

Oh my goodness, your daughter Kathleen's expressions are so cute. Looks like a great Christmas. I've always wanted to make truffles, but I never have. I've got to make some next Christmas.
