Kindergarten Ball

Kathleen was so excited all last week waiting for Friday night to arrive.
These were some pictures I took this week as we headed out to the bus stop. Just enjoying Spring's beauty.

Each morning Kathleen looks for some kind of flower to pick, and of course loves picking wishes!

Coming back from the bus stop I smile as I see leftover scoring from a basketball game we had the night before.

When she got home on Thursday afternoon we made the cookies for the ball. The theme was Under The Sea!!

These cookies were super yummy! I found the recipe through my Taste of Home App on my IPhone.

                                                               Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
2 Tablespoons milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Frosting:

1 cup confectioners sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 to 2 tablespoons milk
Food coloring (optional)

                                                       Directions:
1) In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg, milk and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or until easy to handle.

2) On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters of your choice. Place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 5-8 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.

3) In a small bowl, combine the confectioners' sugar, extract, salt and enough milk to achieve spreading consistency. Add food coloring if desired. Frost and decorate cookies.

ENJOY!!!

Then Thursday evening was girl time getting all ready!!

Painted nails....

Hair set in curlers.... Big sister reading her a bedtime story.....

On Friday we were set to go! Daddy bought her a beautiful corsage......

My beautiful girl.....

We have a tradition for special events....when the girls enter the room we say..."Introducing the beautiful Kathleen Rose beauty queen" Here she is taking her bow.

Love this close up of her!

Anxiously waiting by the door for more friends to arrive!

This picture was a little blurry but she was so excited waving us over to see one of her friends arriving! :-)

Here she is with her teacher.....

And this is the teaching assistant that helped out on and off throughout the year. Kathleen was super excited to see her, it was a surprise for all the kids!

Unfortunately after this my camera died! I did get a few shots and videos on my phone though. Lots of great music, snacks, good times! They even took a family picture but we haven't received those yet. Then we took her out to Outback Steakhouse for dinner. Just the three of us. :-)
Hayley was hanging out with her Nana and Pop Pop that night. So they each got some individual time out.
What a lovely evening it was!

Watching my little girl grow up with tears in my eyes.....a very proud momma :-)

Have a wonderful day!

Blessings,
Jill

Dear Kathleen,

You look beautiful in your pictures; just beautiful! I love your pretty pink headband and the pink in your dress. Your corsage that you daddy bought you is lovely. What did you do with it when the night was over? Maybe if you still have it you could press it in a book and have it forever. It sure looks like a fun night. Thanks for letting us "into the ball" through your pictures. night, night,

How beautiful she is!

Kat had a kindergarten dance, but it was very casual. One of the teachers in the school, Mr. Broadway, was the DJ. I hadn't met him yet, so I thought that was just his DJ stage name. It's his real name...LOL!
