Ice cream and Dorney Park!

Last week Kathleen had an ice cream party at her school to celebrate the end of the year. Seems like it was just yesterday I was doing this with Hayley in Kindergarten. How the time sure flies!

She was also showing me the butterflies she made :-) We've done this at home also :-)

The Kindergartners were very excited because they got to play on the "big" kids playground for the first time :-)

My girl gets right up with those boys!! LOL

Love her expression when she gets off the rings, that sense of accomplishment!

This past weekend we took a trip to Dorney Park. This was a group event for Hayley's band. :-)

Hayley was such a great big sister...she got on some of the kiddie rides with Kathleen :-)

I love this one of the two of them getting on a kiddie coaster together.

Couldn't resist a picture next to the height requirements. Kathleen was in there bouncing and we were waiting.....

They added a new dinosaur exhibit but it wasn't quite open yet. Kathleen started driving! Look out everyone!

Yup Hayley is all about the coasters this year....no fear! The bad thing was many were broke down or had people getting stuck on them. :-(

Kathleen was testing out the seat for the roller coasters until she gets big enough to ride on one! ;-)

It was a lovely day to be at an amusement park, beautiful temperatures, not too hot or cold and it wasn't really that crowded so the lines were pretty short, always a plus! ;-)

When we head to amusement parks we are always sure to have the following in our back pack that we carry in:

1) Water bottles
2) Sunscreen
3) Hats
4) Extra clothes/shoes/socks...(towels, swimsuits and water shoes if doing the water park)
5) Hairbrush and pony tail holders
6) Sunglasses
7) First aid kit (band-aids, Benadryl, cleaning wipes, tweezers, Neosporin, anti- itch cream...)
8) Washcloth in a plastic baggie (Many times if the girls or one of us gets overheated this comes in handy in the restroom to run cold water on it to wipe our faces to help cool us down.
9) Cell phones and emergency contact numbers
10) Vital information sheets like allergies to medicines, bees, etc.
11) I also like to have the reusable mats on hand to put our food down on
12) Wet wipes and hand sanitizers!
13) Tissues
14) Small snacks like nuts, dried fruit, pretzels
15) Inhaler for Hayley or other medicines that may be needed (ex. Tylenol etc)
16) Camera, an absolute must!
17) Cooler with lunch and additional snacks we keep in our car. Many parks will stamp your hand so you can reenter so it's nice to eat some healthy food when walking and running all day! Usually there are picnic tables but if not we eat in the van. :-)

Seems like a long list but when efficiently packed not so bad. Can't tell you how many times we have had to use all these items. We have also handed out band aids to other kids around the park that may need one. I like to be prepared....lol.

I must say in some ways I miss having our big stroller to load up with everything and make it easier to push around. Now I load up my Vera Bradley mini back pack/purse and Jerry carries his own back pack. Some parks will check your bags when entering, but Dorney Park did not.

Most importantly....HAVE FUN and ENJOY the time with the kids. You'll blink and soon realize they will be all grown up....

                                                                   Blessings,
                                                                      Jill

It seems like only a short time ago that Kat was little and we would drive by what would eventually be her school and see the kids on the playground.

She would say, "I want to play with the pig kids!", meaning the big kids. Next year is her last in that building. She'll be one of the piggest kids in school!

Looks like all of you had a great time!

Gosh the last time Dad and I were there was about 7 1/2 years ago. Before Kathleen was born. Remember what a fun place it was. Looks like the girls had a great time. I know Kathleen has been wanting to be a "Big Girl" for a long time to get on the school playground. And now she can!!!

Great pictures of the girls Jill! We've only been to Dorney Park once...a couple of years ago...and all Brady wanted to do was the water park. I think we were only in the main park an hour or so. I sometimes miss the convenience of the stroller too!

Can't believe how much your girls have grown this year. They are so adorable. We make those butterflies every spring and decorate the kitchen! I love that picture with Charlie Brown, he is my favorite!

I have blinked, and I am realizing how fast it all goes! :)

Love the pictures, and the amusement park looks like so much fun. We just gave Boyd's last stroller away, so I know what you mean. It's so nice to have it to load bags and drinks on, etc. I almost kept it just for that reason, but I felt like it was time to part with it. Great checklist too! A few things I never thought about.

Have a good week.
