Christmas Wrap Up and Going Into the New Year 2018!

Hello everyone!!! Hope you all had a very happy, healthy holiday :-) I had planned this post a lot sooner but time got away from me so I will be wrapping up Christmas and New Year in a quick post.
We even cleaned up and put all the decorations away right after the New Year this year. Normally we leave it up until the weekend after, but the holidays were already tough this year so I just wanted to get it done early.

Here are a few more decorations that I had around our home. We hosted Christmas Eve and had a few people over and my dad came over to stay with us and spend the night. This lighted tree is pretty old. It was a gift to my mom and then she gave it to me. The lights still work and I put it up every year.

We had about 20 people total so our guest room was transformed with a few more tables ;-)

Kathleen helped do a lot of the decorating this year and we love snowmen so you could find them throughout the house :-) The one with the orange hat Kathleen made last year. Got a little smooshed from being packed away last year, lol... but we still put him out.

We set up a small train display and Kathleen loves rearranging it. The cats spend a lot of time there too, however they are not helpful and usually knock most of the things over, lol.

We made up gift bags for the families who came over that evening. Just a little something to spread Christmas cheer.

The girls got festive for the last week of school and Hayley used some spray on hair dye one day. Still slightly lingering in her hair which I'm not a fan of... but I let her do it for a day in fun. She has such pretty natural highlights as it is....

Elvis was a big helper/supervisor a few days before Christmas when we were making cookies. :-) Not sure many of them really made it to Christmas Eve.... they were so good!

Kathleen having some fun with her friend Emma :-)

Vada, Mycah, Mylana, Emma and Kathleen wrapping from the back left to the front left :-)

                                                               Mikey and Holly.

Hayley, Courtney, Kyle, Michael and Merick

Holly, Mike, Jerry, Ed, Cameron and my dad :-)

                                                       Hayley and her friend Courtney

                                                           Hayley and her friend Ana.

Hayley's best friend Breanne who lives back in PA. sent her a Victrola record player along with records and a few other things for Christmas and Hayley set it up right away in the basement area where they hang out.

I had a lighted snowman candle by my mom and dad's picture. I was missing her so much. Lots of tears this holiday season.....

We had Christmas music playing all day on the TV. Was neat to read the little bits of facts and history too.

                                                            My dad and Hayley :-)

                                                                  Hayley and Kyle.

On Christmas Eve it's always been a tradition to have blackberry wine so dad, Jerry and I toasted to my mom in heaven and in the hopes for a better year ahead.

The girls got umbrellas from a friend of ours and they were so adorable just had to share!

I was able to get in a little reading later on Christmas day. If you notice to the left I received another beautiful orchid and this was from Hayley's friend Kyle. So very sweet. We had gotten more sad news right before Christmas that my Uncle Steve passed away. Then before the new year Jerry's cousin Denise passed away unexpectedly, only 53! A very hard year for our family.

This New Years Eve was the first we spent with just the 4 of us in awhile. We needed time as a family to just reflect upon the past year and to relax and unwind. Jerry made chicken wings and Kathleen was enjoying hers with a cup of cocoa. We had a nice night together as a family.

Wishing you all a very happy, healthy New Year!!!! Lots to come in the upcoming year.

All your decorations are so festive and I'm so glad you have the loving support of your family and your Dad has you. I know this year had to be so difficult as you miss your mom so very much. And then to have the sad news of the others on top of that. I hope that 2018 will be a good year for you and you will continue to heal. Tears are good. After 31 years, I still miss my mom.

Lovely times during Christmas holidays, Jill. I know it was a hard Christmas missing your mother. She will always be in your heart. My Mama has been in heaven for 21 years, but I miss her terribly every day, but especially at Christmas. I love how you surrounded yourself with friends and family. Happy New Year! ♥

Hi Jill, thank you for coming over to my blog and leaving a comment - it's nice to meet you! It looks like your Christmas was very busy and packed with lots of people, though that makes for some really lovely memories and fun, doesn't it? I'm so sorry for the losses in your life...I know how hard that is, especially around the holidays.

Hi Jill!

It looks like you were well taken care of and loved on Christmas - those "firsts" are so hard.
The photos were so cute, and everyone looked like they got spoiled! Lucky Haley getting a record player, I need one of those!

Happy 2018 dear friend, I do hope that it's a better year for you...:0)

Hugs and Love,

Happy New Year and sometimes it is important to just be with family and reflect on the past and upcoming year. I believe that 2017 was a rough year for many and I have had multiple people say they are glad it is over. My mother in law was hospitalized twice and my husband twice plus a back surgery so I understand completely.

What a wonderful Christmas you had, Jill. That sweatshirt cracked me up that Hayley is wearing, and the red highlights in her hair are festive. The cookies look Yummy that the girls are baking. Kathleen sure is enjoying those chicken wings and cocoa, what a cute picture. And I love the one of you and your dad. I hope the new year is being kind to you so far, Jill. I'll be taking a blog for awhile, but the girls will post when they can. Stop by any time. They're a lot like me, only younger with more energy. ; )
