First Snow of 2018! #snow #snowday

A little interruption in the posting of the warm weather vacation photos series to bring you our first snow fall for 2018! All together we got about 9 inches, a surprise for living in NC as it doesn't happen often. Girls were off yesterday and today and I'm guessing they will probably be off tomorrow too. The roads are pretty bad and it is quite cold so whatever may melt just becomes ice.

I loved walking around in it and enjoying the beauty of it. I was thankful Jerry stayed home from work yesterday and today.... he has a 2 1/2 hour commute one way so it was not worth risking it. I also included a few videos throughout this post to enjoy.  :-) This first one I took from my sunroom, it was my view when I first woke up :-)

This is our home in the snow, may have to save it for Christmas cards this year :-)

Here is another video from the front and back side of our home. You can hear the birds, even a woodpecker :-), the train and wind chimes.....

We made sure to take good care of our birds and they were quite thankful. :-)

Kathleen saved this bird that got caught in our bird feeder.

Don't think we will be using our pool or picnic table any time soon, lol ;-)

                                                                     Our pier and pond.

Jerry refilling more of our bird feeders.

Jerry getting ready to feed the ducks and I just have to share this video I made and added music, the music makes it a bit ;-)

Here are 3 of our 5 dogs, Owen on the left, Skippy on the right and Bella hiding in the back :-)

Annabelle and Ruby weren't too crazy about coming out in the snow, but finally they did venture out for a little bit. So I took a little video of them :-)

Today the sun is out, but our temperatures are still quite cold. So pretty.....

Kathleen made a snow cone slushie from the fresh snow that was falling....

She also got one of her cookbooks out and made a delicious chicken noodle soup!! Perfect for a cold day.

Then she did her specialty of baking and made cupcakes and the icing from scratch. Everything was absolutely delicious. Love this girl so much. :-)

Have a wonderful day! Stay warm!!! More vacation posts coming soon and another update to our family :-)

First of all I LOVE YOUR HOUSE! Is it gorgeous and so is the snow. AND your daughter cooks for herself! Your hubs has to drive 5 hours a day? That is a bit. I like in GA - we got a little snow - had yesterday and today off school, but we will go back tomorrow. Like your goats and dogs. Beautiful! sandie

Hi Jill! Well I've got to say that I feel right at home here among your snowy pics. ;) Your house looks absolutely beautiful in the snow - truly pretty as a postcard! And your pond looks like a painting.

And Kathleen's goodies look so yummy and I'm craving a cupcake now. Lol Blessings on your weekend ahead dear Gal! xoxo

Hi Jill,
I don't think of you as having that much snow but it looks like you adapted to it nicely. Love the pictures and the ones of your house look like picture postcards! Hope you have a blessed weekend with your family. xo Diana

It's so strange that the weather is worse in the south than it is here in Indiana. I'm glad you enjoyed your snow day!

What a beautiful post, Jill! The snow really is lovely at your place. I agree you should use the photo of your home as a Christmas card this year! Your videos are darling, everyone, but I really love that Kathleen freed the little bird-how wonderful! ♥

It so much fun to sit here tonight and read your post and see all your pictures. Snow where you are is different, here .... well you know. This weekend we are suppose to get 15" or so and than back into the way negative numbers. But for the past day and two more to come it's suppose to be nice, sunny and in the 20's. I'll take it.
I too feed my birds and squirrels and bunnies. Not enough to make them dependent on the food but more for treats. I do make sure when the weather turns nasty there's goodies available. My birds love our sweet breads and the squirrels too. We bought bunny food for the rabbits and mealy worms for treats. So they do get spoiled.
Know that I think of you often and your daddy too. Well all of you but .... well you know.
Take care Jill.
Blessings to you all!

Hi Jill!

Wow, wow, wow!! That snow is amazing! I loved the video of the goats, they were really confused! All that snow in the trees around your home is just gorgeous, unbelievable, but gorgeous!

You have way more snow than we do here in Idaho...42 degrees here snow!

Loved this snowy post!

Hugs and Love,

Oh, so pretty, Jill! A winter wonderland - love all the photos! You definitely need to use the one of your house for next year's Christmas card. Your little dogs are so cute and love seeing all the birds, ducks, and goats. The girls are so cute - they must love having these snow days off from school. That is a long commute for your hubby - yikes! Kathleen is turning into quite the little chef! Hope you all have a fun weekend in the snow! xx Karen

Your house looks like it belongs on a postcard! Such beautiful pictures.
I live in Canada and we've had more snow days than I care to count at this point. I'm quite ready for Spring please :)
